ADR Architecture has transformed a multi-storey car park in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter into a vibrant rooftop farm and community garden. This innovative project enhances the city’s green footprint and delivers fresh, clean food to local residents.

In collaboration with Birmingham City Council and Slow Food UK, we designed a sustainable hub featuring a biodiversity centre, café, and raised beds. The rooftop farm fosters community engagement, boosts urban biodiversity, and showcases functional, sustainable design, all while respecting the existing infrastructure.

At ADR Architecture, we are committed to pioneering projects that integrate sustainability and community benefit.

Community and Sustainability

Vyse Street Food Project is a groundbreaking project that repurposes urban infrastructure for community and sustainability. The multi-storey car park in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter will provide fresh produce and green spaces through the rooftop farm and community garden. The biodiversity centre and café serve as hubs for education and community gatherings, while raised beds and vertical growing systems maximise agricultural output in an urban setting.

This project demonstrates how sustainable design can integrate seamlessly with existing structures, enhancing urban biodiversity and fostering a strong sense of community.
